On Thursday 10th and Friday 11th December 2020, Santa Claus visited all of our pupils across Wimbledon Park and Southfields in his roaming Winter Wonderland nursery transit van. The children all had the opportunity to meet Santa outdoors, peer inside his magical winter wonderland, feed a carrot to one of Santa’s reindeers, and lastly receive a special Christmas present to take home.
At Seahorse Nursery, we love Christmas and we were determined, this year, to make sure our children did not miss out on the magic of the festive season during these challenging times. Julia, the nursery founder, and Principal Harriet, came up with the idea to convert the back of the Nursery van and have been collecting items for the Winter Wonderland since September.
“With our usual Christmas event cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions we wanted to ensure the magic of meeting Santa was still possible. We really enjoyed the challenge of creating a winter wonderland in the transit van! After such success it might become a nursery tradition for future years.” – Harriet, Principal of Seahorse Nursery
All the children, from the Baby Room to Preschool, visited Santa and the Christmas animals he bought with him from the North Pole, including his reindeer, polar bear, bunnies and even a festive seahorse!
The parents gave some brilliant feedback to the team, especially as for many of the children this was their first visit to see Santa and many parents worried that due to restrictions, they would not be able to.
“[She] loved it and she hasn’t seen Santa before. It was really lovely for the kids given the current restrictions. We found it really hard choosing a nursery without being able to go into nurseries and meet everyone prior, but we are so happy we chose Seahorse,
and the staff are amazing. Thank you for making it easier in difficult times.” – Parent of a child at Seahorse Day Nursery Southfields
